Annotation Extraction

Hi Everyone,

I am new to Zotero and am loving the software but am having a problem extracting annotations from my pdf's. I am using Adobe reader and it hasnt worked on any of them. I can copy and paste from the pdf to Word, which I though was a sign that it should work but still no luck, just a big red cross! Any help appreciated.

How exactly are you extracting annotations? I assume this is with ZotFile?

thanks for replying. Yeah it is with Zotfile. Everything else seems to be working ok but frustratingly I cant seem to get any annotations extracted.

could you upload an annotated PDF somewhere so we can take a look?

Adam, I'm having the same problem. I'm using Zotfile to send PDFs to my iPad, then making annotations using iAnnotate. But when I bring the PDFs back into Zotero, Zotfile won't extract the annotations.

I've noticed that I don't have the problem when I use, say, Adobe Acrobat Pro or Preview on my laptop.

@MrDCFP -- yes, that one doesn't work for me either. Follow the instructions here: http://zotfile.com/#extract-pdf-annotations to get this to ZotFile's developer.

Yeah, no problem. Where would be a good place to upload it to?

dropbox would work, as would any other file sharing service from google drive to hightail to ownCloud

that one works for me, just takes a long time. Which version of ZotFile? What exactly are you seeing when you try?

I see a box appear in the bottom right hand-corner that says 'Zotfile: Extracting Annotations' and then the name of the pdf with a big red cross next to it.

The I am using the Zotfile that I recently downloaded from the Mozilla Add-Ons webpage.
