How to stop Zotero automatic update/update notification and others

Hello all,

I am using zotero 4.028. I would like to continue using this version. I updated couple days back, however, new version was performing terribly--it was almost stopping my word processor to work. Then, I restored to the current version. However, when I open zotero every time it shows--whether I would like to update it or not. I would like to stop this notification--any suggestions? I am using windows 10.

I have another question--previously if I kept open my Zotero standalone version- then when I saved any article from firefox--it would directly saved in the opened collection folder under My library. However, these days--when I save anything from firefox it just gets saved directly under My library--not at the opened collection folder. Any suggestion to circumvent these difficulty would be highly appreciated.

thank you,
Mahbub
  • For the 2nd issue, my guess would be https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/sharing_data_directory

For the 1st one--that's a bad idea and it won't work very long. At some point, older Zotero versions will just become incompatible with Firefox, for example. Also, if you run into any trouble at all, the first thing we'll ask you to do is update. There is no support for old Zotero versions. If you have problems with a new Zotero version, post here and we'll help you troubleshoot.
There are some threads here with instructions on how to disable auto updating if you really must (for Standalone it's a setting in the hidden preferences/about:config), so you can search for those.
