Change Item Type

I cannot change the item type for several pdf's that downloaded to Zotero. They seem to be saved as an "attachment" and it won't let me change it to a report or anything else. I can find the drop down menu next to Item Type for some fo the files, but not for my pdfs. Any help is appreciated.

    You want to actually attach them to an item first, either by using right-click ---> Retrieve Metadata or, where that fails, right-click --> Attach to Parent Item.

    You can't assign item types to files itself. You attach them to an item.
