How to use with Word 2016 on Mac

Hi Everyone,

I'm a bit technologically slow and I'm having trouble inserting citations into Word 2016. I have installed the plug-in. Basically I have been clicking "Add-Ins" on Word and then clicking the Zotero icon that pops up, I type in the journal that I want to cite but it inserts it as "Peery et al." instead of just the superscribed number 1. How do I have Zotero insert my citations in numerical order? And then how do I generate the References list in order of appearance in the paper I'm writing?

I thank you in advance!

in particular, you want to set the citation style to whatever you need it to be under Set Document Preferences and you want to use "Insert Bibliography" to insert the bibliography at the current location of your cursor.
  • Hi Adam,

Thanks for the redirection. So I read the bit in the link you said about the superscript but nowhere does it say how to actually insert citations in a numerical format, e.g. "...more than 9 million^2-4." The citation that keeps happening instead is "...more than 9 million (2010, 2012, 2010)." <-- I've removed the author.

I read something on a different post that I had to download a multiple citations plug in, but I haven't yet found one that is compatible with Word 2016 for Mac.

    Help?

    Thanks!
  • the citation depends on the citation style. If you actually were using AMA style, they'd be numeric and in superscript. My guess would be that you're still at the default style, which would be APA. Again, the citation style is set under "Set Document Preferences" in the Word add-on.

Might be best to try this out in a fresh document to be sure that the various things you have tried to troubleshoot don't affect this.
  • Adam,

You are a lifesaver. Thank you for your help!
  • Bonjour,

nous avons récemment installé la nouvelle version de word 2016 sur notre mac, mais Zotero que nous utilisions déjà n'y est plus rattaché.
Y'a-t-il une mise à jour à faire et si oui, comment procéder?

    Merci d'avance
