New user - sync not working

Hi

Installed Zotero for firefox, but library won't upload to server. Sync wheel just turns continuously. Have submitted debug output generated shortly after a restart and attempted sync: D1019884095

Any help much appreciated

What distro is this? You're getting a whole bunch of weird errors in Firefox unrelated to Zotero, as well as this generic one, so it looks like there's something generally wrong with your Firefox installation. If you're not using the official version from Mozilla, you should try that. If you're using security software, you could try temporarily disabling it. Same if you're running other extensions in Firefox, in particular any that might affect the password database.
  • Thank you, did a Firefox refresh and now works fine, although doing it removed Zotero and the items I had added :,(
  • But this did not work for me.

Win10, Firefox 4n.nnn - reset. All zotero gone. All zotero online still in order (why does it not sync from there?). Zotero old stored as supposed (thank to whom ever made sure of that).

Copy as described nothing happened. Still an empty zotero.

Copy hard... meaning taking the old as it was and move to the new location; that worked (thanks to some computer Gods).
  • yes, replacing the entire folder will work, too.
The instructions will definitely work when followed to the letter, regardless of operating system or Firefox version. My best guess would be that you may not have had Firefox closed as per step 2, but may well have been something else.

(As for sync -- that, too would have worked. You may have been getting a sync error that stopped it from going through. There's a relatively small red exclamation mark to the left of the sync arrow in that case.)
