Style error: AMA - word "Vol" showing in books

Hi,

Can someone help me, please? I keep getting the word “Vol” before the edition number when I cite books that aren’t a first edition. The AMA manual doesn’t indicate that the word “Vol” should be added. How can I make sure I don’t get it when importing the citation to my word doc?

This is an example of my output, which is wrong (Note: the title is italicized in my word document)

Colbin Clark R, Mayer RE. E-Learning and the Science of Instruction. Vol 3rd ed. San Francisco, CA: Pfeiffer; 2008.

The 2 examples below are directly from the AMA manual (Note:These also have italicized titles in the manual)

Simon LS, Lipman AG, Jacox AK, et al. Pain in Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Juvenile Chronic Arthritis. 2nd ed. Glenview, IL: American Pain Society; 2002.

Venables WN, Ripley BD. Modern Applied Statistics With S. 4th ed. New York, NY: Springer Publishing Co; 2003.

Thank you for your hard work!
  • yes, sorry, that's an error introduced in May. We'll fix it within the next couple of days.
  • Thank you so much, that change will be a blessing if it happens soon like you mentioned :-)

Once the change takes place, could you please let me know? I imagine that at that point I would need to delete the current AMA version I have in Zotero and add the new one, right?

I really appreciate this improvement and thanks for providing a free software!
  • New version of styles will normally update automatically. Thus, you will not need to delete it manually or add it again. However, word documents may need an impulse.
  • The style is now fixed. The updated version will appear on the repository within 30mins (check the timestamp). Update your copy of the style by clicking "Update Now" in the General tab of the Zotero preferences.

Styles also update automatically within 24hs for Zotero 4.0+
In an existing document, you may have to switch to a different style and back for the changes to take effect once the style is updated.
Any further problems please let us know & thanks for reporting
