Upgrade StorageChinese surname ‘Li’ disappears
Hello!
I have the problem that the Chinese surname ‘Li’ disappears both in the footnotes and the bibliography.
Admittedly this only happens when I use the system of entering the Chinese name in Pinyin into the ‘surname’ field in the library, and the Chinese characters into the ‘first name’ field.
I realise that my system is somewhat less than ideal. But I have been building my library in this way for years now, and it would be quite a lot of work to change it. Usually this also works fine, just not with people who have the name ‘Li’. It also works for people with other two-letter surnames, such as Hu or Fu.
I also know that this could be solved with multilingual Zotero. But I don’t find its word plugin as convenient as the one of the normal Zotero (unless I’ve been doing something wrong). So if this could be solved with the normal Zotero, that would be great.

You really should be using MLZ, though (now Juris-M). You can try it out by installing the client—it won't alter your Zotero data or online library if you don't enable sync, and Zotero will continue to work. To convert the name fields, you would have to do touch-up work manually, but much of the conversion could be automated. I would be happy to help with that if you're interested—it seems a worthy cause.
(The word processor plugin in the new Juris-M Standalone clients now defaults to the Quick Format popup used by Zotero.)
You're right, Juris-M would be better. Is it also possible to convert book titles, book section titles, article titles, etc. automatically? I have been using Zotero for over 5 years, developing an ideosyncratic method for entering Chinese, Pinyin and translations for all these fields. Reentering it all manually into Juris-M would be quite a task.
