Copy between MyLibrary and Groups

I copy an item from MyLibrary to a Group
I change it in the Group (incl. adding a PDF)
If I try to drag it back into MyLibrary:

I connot drop it into the collection it came from (it already exists there)
If I drop it into a new collection, it works, but changes I made in the group are not updated

One thing I want is to have a collection in a group like 'PDFmissing'. If a user adds a PDF to an item in the group collection, I want to be able to copy that into MyLibrary.
What is the right way to do this?

This is working "as intended" for now, but no one is happy with this.
Currently, the only option you have is to delete the item in your library, empty the trash, and then move the item into the trash.

What's (roughly) planned is to have the modified item update the old item as you copy it back and to throw up a merge dialog if both have been modified.

That seems to be a good plan, Something like Windows copy dialog if file exists, gives me a choice to overwrite or skip, with the option to do that for all remaining items.

If it is only to add a copy of a PDF to mylibrary that someone added in the group, I can drag just the pdf attachment to the desktop from the group and drag it from there to the item in mylibrary. That appears to work.
