Upgrade Storagemac word 2008 plugin superscript style citations
In word 2008 for mac, setting the document preferences to a citation style that uses superscripted citations (e.g. nature) seems to lock any further citation style changes applied to the document to superscript (in other words, reverted back to a non-superscripted style does not remove the superscript formatting).
This change is not permanent - By opening the document in word 2007 for windows I can set doc prefs to a non-superscripted style and the citations revert back to being non-superscripted.
