Editing Citation Information for File Added
I'm new to Zotero, and I seem to have an issue with getting the correct citation information for files.
If I download a file to Zotero using the Chrome plug-in, I have no information getting to the file's information in Zotero and correcting the date, authors, etc.--if needed (which, honestly, is super rare!).
However, if I have a file already on my computer or from a website from which the Zotero plug-in wouldn't download, and I move it to Zotero, I cannot click on the file in Zotero to add/change the file information to correct the title, authors, date, etc....Because of this, when using Zotero to cite this PDF in Word, it cites it incorrectly (with whatever title I gave the file and without any other information).
Does anyone know how to get around this so I can edit these files as well? I have multiple PDFs that need to be added to Zotero from my computer that I cannot find online equivalents, so this seems to be a really big issue for me. If I click the green "plus" and add a "new" item, I can move my PDF file into it as a "subitem" and edit the information, but that's only editing the "new" item and not the actual PDF file's information in Zotero.
Thanks in Advance!

aurimasRight click the PDF in Zotero and select "Retrieve Metadata". If that fails, right-click it and select "Create Parent Item", then fill in the metadata manually
