Starting over with OO on Mac...

Dear Zotero-Users,

I am using Zotero with Open Office 4.1.1 on Mac OS X Yosemite.
I almost finished a document with about 90 pages, 12 of them citations inserted with Zotero. During the creation of the document, several problems occured:

-It seems that at one point, I accidentally changed the citation style, I have now two different styles in the literature list
-Not sure if it is related to the former, but Zotero does not seem to recognize existing citations and always adds a new one (unless one is directly following the next), although the same reference has been used several times before.
-I think I saw some citations not being updated with others in the process when moving paragraphs to other positions in the text and the citation number changes
-I also have to go through several citations and add page numbers.

Rather than fixing the existing document, I would like to start over with a new one, and copy and paste paragraph by paragraph, checking and editing every citation in the process.

Before I start, I would like to ask for best practices to create a new document in this fashion. I am now reasonably familiar with Zotero and its features (which are fantastic, by the way) and would like to get advice from other users where I should be careful.

If you would start a new document, what would you do different than before? What did you discover too late?

Thanks in advance for reading and any reply,

oad
