Bibliography Style

Could a new bibliography style be made for zotero this style is very similar to the Harvard style and is used in all scientific journals so I am puzzled why is hasn't already been included. Anyways the style is:

Auther surname Auther initials, Date of publication, Paper title, Journal title, Journal volume, Page numbers.

Example:Lye GJ, Ayazi-Shamlou P, Baganz F, Dalby PA & Woodley JM (2003), Accelerated design of bioconversion processes using automated microscale processing techniques, Trends in biotechnology, 21, 29-37

This is effectively harvard style but the one Zotero has currently uses et al in the bibliography whereas most scientific journal lists all the names of the arthours in the bibliography and only use et al in the citation within the text that is being referenced to. The Citations is in the form (Aurthor surname et al., Date of pulication).

It would great if this could be added to the style list.

Thanks

Can you give an example of a scientific journal that uses this type of modified Harvard style? And have you already looked at the style repository (http://www.zotero.org/styles), to see if some of the other styles already meet your criteria?
  • Journal which I know use this style are: chemical engineering science, Bioprocess biosystem engineering, molecular neurobiology and lot of other engineering or biotechnology based journals.

However I have only just started using Zotero and didn't realise there were other styles except for the ones which came up automatically when I made the bibliography which were Harvard and IEEE, I will check the list you have sent and see if I can find something similar but do I need to install that preview 1.5 sync program as a lot of them have the install button crossed out?

    Thanks

Not really. You're right that only Zotero 1.5 and up will support dependent styles (the ones you can't install right now). However, these dependent styles are just shortcuts to other styles, and they are meant mostly for convenience. E.g. there is a dependent style named “Nature Biotechnology”, which, as the journal Nature Biotechnology shares its citation layout with that of Nature, simply points to the independent "Nature" style. This prevents duplication of styles, making it easier to maintain a large collection of styles. For now however, if you find a dependent style you would like to use, you can just click on its name and see to which independent style it links. Then just install that independent style.
  • Ok thats great thanks! There are a lot of styles in the list so I am sure there is one which is similar to what I need.

    Thanks for your help.

You can cut out the dependent styles out to cut down the list by unclicking the Show Dependent Styles check box.
