Deduplicating items cited in a LibreOffice document

I'm using Zotero 4.0.26.3, and I have, for some reason, most of the citations in a LibreOffice document duplicated.
For example, an item (say, Author, 2010) is cited twice (for example, [27] and [62]). This happens with several items. I can confirm that one of the citations is linked to my Zotero collection, whereas the other one isn't.
I could fix it by going on each citation that is not linked to my library, edit it and select the corresponding entry on my library, but the document is about 30 pages long, and I have ~100 citations. Several citations cite a lot of papers at once (this is a review). It is not only a lot of manual labor, but also a big opportunity for mistakes.
I've been searching for hours, and couldn't find a way to edit the collection of items in the document.
Is there a way to deduplicate the items? I do need some help, as my deadline is nearing and now I have this unexpected problem...
Thanks in advance.
  • The current version of Zotero Ffirefox is 4.0.27.5 and Z Standalone is 4.0.27.6.

That could be your problem. Anyway, you will need to update Zotero before the real experts here can help.
  • Ok, I have upgraded to 4.0.27.6 (I use the standalone version).
However I couldn't find any new function that would allow me to link items in the document to my library, or to import those items into my library, so I could manage them.
I'm a programmer. If I have some pointers on how to iterate and manipulate the items in the document via some LibreOffice macro, I could try.
