Plug-in for new Word for Mac

I just installed the new Word for Mac today (version 15.11.2) and the Zotero standalone plug-in doesn't appear in it. Fortunately, the installation process retained the old version of Word (Word for Mac 2011, version 14.5.2), so I'm able to go back to that and use it. I tried reinstalling the plug-in from the Zotero app, but it doesn't have any effect on the new Word.

Is there a way to enable the Zotero plug-in with the new Word, or do I need to continue using old Word for now? Thanks!

Zotero won't work with Word for Mac 2016 for now.

1. No problem; I'll keep using dingy old Word for Mac 2011. ;-)

2. Any ideas on when the new Word for Mac might be supported?

2.) no -- typically Word versions were supported from when they come out. That's clearly not the case here. Simon (the senior developer who does the word processor integration) would have to say what the status of this is.
