Possible error in the extension "Zotero 4.0.27".

Hi!
I was using Zotero on two computers.
In one of them had a previous Zotero extension of the current extension "Zotero 4.0.27".
The previous version of Zotero correctly displayed the reference capture icon in the address bar for the book "http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Plurality-Modernity-Decentring-Sociology/dp/3866180888".
However, on the computer with the extension "Zotero 4.0.27" this icon does not appear.
This is happening with many books and articles.
Therefore, if I'm not mistaken, this version "Zotero 4.0.27" might be in trouble.

  • Thank you!
However, to facilitate understanding of the new capabilities and new location of the icon, I suggest that, for some time, you guys publish a notice about the new location of the icons when the user clicks the "Z" to run the Zotero in the new version "4.0.27." Additionally, this warning could indicate to the user the address you sent me.

A guidance panel appears pointing out the new button when you first start the new version, and the panel has to be clicked on to be closed. That may not be sufficient for everyone, but there's a fine line between pointing out changed features and annoying people. (Also, if you're already clicking the Z icon, you're already seeing a whole new button layout that wasn't there in previous versions.)

We've also written a blog post and tweeted it out, and since you first posted we've added a sticky note to the forums, which hopefully people will see if they make it this far.

In my case, the guidance panel disappeared by itself after a few seconds (before I could read all of the text). Is that supposed to happen? This was on OS X 10.10.4, Firefox 38.0.5. I should note that I received a popup from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/foxclocks/ at the same time, which also closed by itself (maybe FoxClocks closed both panels?).
  • As for me, I've never seen this guidance panel. Win7 and FF 38.0.5. That was probably with Standalone but I'm not sure (4 days ago).
  • It's supposed to disappear when you navigate to another page, but it looks like it was hiding erroneously on some complex pages (iframes, etc.). That should be fixed in the latest beta, so feel free to reset extensions.zotero.firstRunGuidanceShown.saveButton (not saveIcon) and see if that works for you. We can push out a new version that shows the panel again.
  • Not sure it sufficiently replicated the same conditions, but the new beta worked great in my developer profile.
