Link files to multiple bibliographic entries

I've a number of research projects which link to subsets of archival data. Think of a collection of sermons by the same author, published in a single collection

Spurgeon, _Sermons_, vol 1: Sermons 1-600
sermon 1
sermon 2
sermon 3
sermon 4
...
sermon 600

Each of these are in their own PDFs. I've sliced and diced this by topic and want to put 20 of these in a project (say, sermons related to Charles Dickens):
Spurgeon, _Sermons_, vol 1: Sermons about Dickens
sermon 3
sermon 45
sermon 126
...
sermon 583

Now these aren't that big, so storage isn't the issue, but I'd like for the notes that I make while doing the Dickens project on the sermon 45 PDF to go into the master set, so when I look at again for a project on sermons about Lloyd George they'll be there.

I could do that with linking to external files, but for backup purposes, I'd really like to keep them in the Zotero filespace. Any ideas?

Thanks!
  • You might try making Standalone notes in Zotero and then tagging them "Dickens". You could also put the file from an external program in Zotero and tag it. To connect either Zotero notes or another attachment to the Sermon item, you could use the Related Items function.
