importing from an eprints search

Hi,

Which is the best import format to bring the results of an ePrints search into zotero?

<option value="Text">ASCII Citation</option><option value="BibTeX">BibTeX</option>
<option value="DC">Dublin Core</option><option value="XML">EP3 XML</option>
<option value="EndNote">EndNote</option>
<option value="EAP">Eprints Application Profile</option>
<option value="HTML">HTML Citation</option>
<option value="METS">METS</option><option value="MODS">MODS</option>
<option value="ContextObject">OpenURL ContextObject</option>
<option value="Refer">Refer</option>
<option value="RIS">Reference Manager</option>

from http://preview.tinyurl.com/6z7glj (preview shows the url and gives you a link to click, rather than taking you straight to the page)
  • BibTeX, Reference Manager, and MODS are all options—you'd have to compare the three, since there might be differences in what data is exported in each. For the moment you'll need to save the file (with a .bib, .ris, or .mods extension, respectively) to your hard drive and then use Import File in Zotero to import it in. (You can also just open the local file back up in Zotero and then import from the white icon in the address bar, but that doesn't currently work as well for large files since it tries to display the translator progress window.)

Eventually you'll be able to import raw files like this directly (i.e., without saving locally first) via the address bar icon or by highlighting the export format markup on the page and telling Zotero to import it.

And creating a translator for this site, at least for the search results page, would be pretty straightforward. If you do discover differences in the export formats, please post what you find here in case somebody attempts a translator (which would use one of those formats in turn).
  • Note: My trials get the following results;
    bibtex: ok
RIS: ' gets turned into ?
    dc(text) : no translator
    e3p xml: no translator
    endnote:no translator
    METS: no translator
    MODS: fails with javascript error
refer: drops titles/ ' gets turned into ?

does anyone have any advice apart from 'use bibtex' when getting records out of eprints and into z.
