Disconnecting a laptop from cloud

I have installed zotero library on two computers (work pc and home laptop) with automatically syncing between the two through zotero cloud. I had to urgently take my laptop to repair this morning. What will happen if they format the laptop and delete everything? Will it automatically delete all my library in the storage space? How can I insure that it won't automatically delete all the files in the cloud? Can I disconnect them somehow?

If you format the harddisk, reinstall Zotero and then sync, the library from the server will sync down, not the other way around. The only way Zotero items get deleted during sync is when you have explicitly deleted them in Zotero. You have nothing to worry about.
