Won't Sync (Sync already in progress)

I've scanned the forum and could not find anything exactly like this, much less a resolution. So please forgive me if this topic has indeed been resolved elsewhere.
I have successfully installed and run the Zotero Sync Preview (now up to version 1.5-sync 3.5) on a system running Windows XP (32 bit) and another with OS X (Leopard). Now I'm trying to get it running on a system with Windows XP Pro x64 edition.
The install went well, so I fired up Firefox/Zotero and initiated a sync.It failed. After some detective work, I decided the cause of the problem was that some tags were too long. I went through my library and got rid of all the long tags. Then I tried syncing again, only this time I get a message saying "Another sync operation is already in progress."
Nothing I have tried seems to fix this. Every time I try to sync, I get this message. I restarted Firefox and then restarted my computer, but neither trick worked. I have a feeling the problem may be on the server end.
Can anyone help with this?
Thank you for the great improvement that syncing brings to Zotero. If we can iron out these bugs, Zotero will be a killer app.
