Where is a library stored?

Please excuse me if this is a stupid question.

I've not used Zotero for a few years, since I wrote the book of my doctoral thesis. I'm now writing a paper related to that, and thought I'd make a subset of the old bibliography to save having to create a new one from scratch and re-key all the citations.

Zotero was no longer in Firefox and LibreOffice (because of upgrades to both? or because of a hard disk crash a couple of years ago?) so I had to reinstall the add-ons. When I open Zotero my library is empty -- so where are my old libraries stored? How can I access them?

Also, when I used Zotero in the past, LibreOffice (or more likely then, OpenOffice) showed icons at the top for inserting citations in the text; these aren't there now.

I'm probably simply misunderstanding something very basic -- but can anyone help? Thanks!

David
  • On the location of Zotero data, see
    https://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data
Hard to say where exactly your old library is -- if you have a backup of your old harddisk, that might be it.

You'd have to likely re-install the LibreOffice add-on for Zotero:

  • I want to update my storage now. First I would like to ask a question. I may be able to afford it now, but maybe not in the future. So what happens to my data, if I cant upgrade my storage in the future?
