Unable to save any web: Report ID: 770046627

Hi, I would appreciate your help in dealing with this issue.

I have not been able to download references from any of the websites I tried: namely Jstor, database EEBO, Googlebooks etc. Tried all steps mentioned in the troubleshooting manual.

Am using Firefox 37.0.1 and Zotero 4.0.26.2.
The Debug ID is D1635069535.

Report ID: 770046627

And this is the original URL:

What if you close Zotero Standalone? If that fails too, provide a Debug ID from Zotero for Firefox for a save attempt.
  • I can't! Closed standalone, ran Zotero for Firefox, wanted to submit the ID as before but now it says "Error: Invalid response from server".
  • Ah, this might be the problem, apparently I have outdated Zotero for Firefox. But when I want to download the new version, I get another error: Add-on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure on www.zotero.org
  • Dan, I managed to sort out the issue with updating the Zotero for Firefox and the article now downloaded just fine.

But I would like to ask you for help with troubleshooting this error.

Trying to download this link: http://eebo.chadwyck.com/search/fulltext?SOURCE=var_spell.cfg&ACTION=ByID&ID=D00000998637660000&WARN=N&SIZE=140&FILE=../session/1428434119_14194&SEARCHSCREEN=CITATIONS&DISPLAY=AUTHOR&ECCO=default

Get the "an error occurred while saving this item."

I cannot provide you with the Debug ID in Zotero for Firefox - still get the same "Error: Invalid response from server". I do not seem to be getting any Debug IDs from Zotero for Firefox, though I can "view the output". Similarly, I cannot report any errors, get a message "Invalid response from repository".

When I try to download the same text via Standalone (still from Firefox), I get the following Debug ID: D587880703
  • It's the Firefox output that would be relevant. You can save it to a text file and email it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread, but I'm guessing there's an issue with security software here, which is what would prevent you from getting updates as well. So you should try disabling your security software first.
  • Many thanks, Dan. Now I tried again, after disabling some things in my AV, and got this Debug ID with Zotero for Firefox:
    The Debug ID is D499981015

    No title specified for item
OK, that one just looks like a problem with the data that EEBO is returning for that item:
    TY - BOOK
T3 - Early English Books Online
    ER -
Someone will have to take a look at the translator to make sure Zotero is sending the right ID, but try JSTOR, Amazon, or NYT.
