Word could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure Firefox is running and try again
Hi there,
I've been using Firefox with the Zotero plug-in for a while now, but today I'm now having issues - when I try to insert a reference I get the msg "Word could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure Firefox is running and try again." I've visited the suggested support page (https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting) but I can't figure the issue out given that I haven't changed anything recently.
I DO have 2 Firefox profiles, but have had them for a couple of months and all's been working swimmingly until now. I had a read through the associated guidance:
"Windows plugins communicate with Firefox using the remote window. Thus, launching Firefox with the -no-remote command-line option will prevent the plugins from functioning. (You might do this if you have multiple Firefox profiles.) The solution is to remove the -no-remote command-line option from the shortcut used to launch the Firefox profile on which Zotero is installed. As long as all other profiles use the -no-remote option, you should be able to open them and the Zotero profile simultaneously."
But to be honest I'm not convinced this is the problem given that I haven't changed anything. Even if it was, I don't actually understand the instruction being given above so not sure how to check/fix anyhow...
If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance!

Upgrade Storage
The first thing I'd try is to re-install the word processor add-on from the Cite tab of the Zotero preferences.
In response to your questions: No, I'm not running both profiles simultaneously.
I re-installed the word processor add-on as instructed, but weirdly under the "Cite" tab on Zotero preferences in Firefox it reads "The Microsoft Word add-in is not currently installed". I'm not sure if that gives any further hints as to what the issue might be?
(and obviously also Zotero 4.0.26.2)
You've tried restarting your computer?
Try disabling any security software for testing.
I haven't disabled security software as am on a work computer and don't think I have those rights. Is this a really important step?
Thanks for your help!
