first time i am here. not sure if this is where one posts this.if this isnt the forum please indicate where to post this.

i have tried everything in tech advise and am having problems with the EBSCO Zotero translator. it wont do it.

Report ID: 1062587227

zotero is not translating from the URL bar when trying to collect articles from EBSCO.
i am using upto date software in firefox and zotero, add ins are all up to date.

it is not translating articles from EBSCO.
  • what's the URL exactly as you see it?
  • iti s several URLS . . . but here you go, here is one example
    http://web.a.ebscohost.com.pgi.idm.oclc.org/ehost/detail/detail?sid=eeb429f6-88a7-4099-a7aa-a4e58966f76b%40sessionmgr4004&vid=1&hid=4204&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZSZzY29wZT1zaXRl#db=bsh&AN=16474609
  • Works on my end, though I'm not going through a proxy. Dan, can you give us the details from the Report ID?
  • Outdated Zotero version, 4.0.25.2. caro1ine, upgrade to the latest version.
  • thanks Dan, firefox wasnt automatically doing upgrade via default . . . had to do a manual upgrade and seems to working now.
  • Updates Not Detected may be relevant (unless the auto-update setting was just disabled).
  • Dan, just checked Zotero Preferences, and looked for . . . Firefox preferences → Advanced → Update . . . it doesnt seem to offer that as an option. checking on certificate verification this is the information i get
    issued to
    common name (CN) *.zotero.org
    organization (O) <not part of certificate>
    Organizational Unit (OU) GT03802562
    Serial Number 1E:4F

    issued by
    CN RapidSSL SHA257 CA-G3
    O GeoTrust Inc.
    OU <not part of certificate>

    period of validity
    begins on 9/30/2014
    expires on 11/1/2016

it would appear from information from your link this is secured.
i dont have the technical competence to change ssl . . . is there a dummy's step by step to this next step?
  • Firefox preferences, not Zotero preferences
  • And the certificate is fine, so it's not due to security software.

Check the Firefox settings, but as I said, this only may be relevant. It's also possible you just hadn't restarted Firefox in a very long time.
  • thanks Dan, the firefox settings are always set on auto updates. that is why i thought i would check zotero . . .

i always use firefox so it is weird it didnt update.
