possible to save Metadata but not the pdf?

I've just run out of space for my online library, my lab won't let me spend money on Zotero when everyone else is using a different citation software.
Is it possible for me to keep Zotero, filing only Metadata but not the pdf? It'll allow me to have more articles in my library without increasing my data allowance...

    Two things:
    1) you can just turn off file sync. That way files are still saved, but not synced. That seems like a much betters solution for your particular situation.

    2) you can turn off auto-attaching of PDFs with the respective preference in the general tab of the Zotero preferences, though I'm not 100% sure that works when using Chrome or Safari with Zotero Standalone.

    3) You can use a third-party WebDAV sync service, which generally provide more storage space for free https://www.zotero.org/support/sync#webdav
