Add a data or dataset 'type' to Zotero

I may be missing it but I can't find a data or dataset 'type' within Zotero. With the increasing push for open-access to data and datasets being given DOIs it would be really useful to add a data type to Zotero.

Thanks,

Anthony
  • this is definitely going to happen. You can see here:
    https://github.com/zotero/translators/pull/801
for the status of a (quite workable) current solution (lots of debate there, too, but should clarify things).
  • Great, I'll look forward to it making the next release.

Here's a DOI for a dataset we recently published, maybe that will be helpful.

    10.3334/CDIAC/FACE-MDS/MOD.01

Happy to discuss formatting of data citations etc if that would be useful.

    Thanks fro the speedy reply.
  • here are Suggested Citation for data set:

  • This doesn't require any more input, thanks. There will be a dataset item type, almost certainly in Zotero 5.1 -- it just took some time to get Zotero ready for item type and field changes. Current best practices for entering datasets: https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/translators/datasets
  • I've noticed that datasets aren't in Zotero 6.0.9 - are they on the roadmap still?

  • Yes. They will come in an upcoming version that shouldn’t be too much longer. Items with “Type: dataset” in Extra will be automatically migrated
