Problems with PDF metadata

I am currently working on a research project where we have multiple files posted on Dropbox. When I try to download the file and save to Zotero with retrieving the metadata, a box on my computer shows up saying that this app can't run on my computer then a box opens where it shows the downloading bar but it never downloads.

My computer is an HP Envy and is running Windows 8.1. I have downloaded Zotero for Firefox, the Zotero Word program and also the Zotero standalone program. I also downloaded the program Zotfile that one site said may help but it has not.

    that doesn't sound like it comes from Zotero. Could you take a screenthot, upload it somewhere (dropbox, imgur.com) and link to it?

    I took 3 screenshots, one of the original option to save to Zotero with retrieving the metadata, the second is the box that pops up, and the third is the download box that comes up but never actually downloads.

    If it is not a Zotero problem do you have any ideas of what it could be? I found an app in the app store for Zotero but it seemed more geared toward getting references off of wikipedia than grabbing a pdf and creting a reference.
