missing "retrieve pdf metadata" feature

Because of trouble with sync, I tried using zotero in an entirely new profile to which I added just a few entries, and sync worked. But the feature that allows retrieval of metadata from pdf files was missing in the installation of zotero with the new profile.

As for the original sync problem, I will post a separate discussion.

    do you have pdftotext installed?

    I assume it is installed, since the feature works with my original profile. Unless it has to be installed with each profile used in firefox.

    You can see if the plugins are installed in the search pane of the preferences window. If there are hyperlinks there to install the plugins then you need to install them.
