Syncing while offline

Recently I opened Firefox in "Work Offline" mode and when I opened Zotero I noticed the sync indicator spinning as if it was trying to sync. Maybe it's just a faulty indicator, but if Zotero is trying net connections, maybe it would be better to check for Firefox's offline status.
