could you describe a bit more what your set-up is, where exactly you're looking, what you're seeing, if this is the same computer on which you added the references, etc.
Generally speaking, references don't just disappear, so we'd first want a bit of a bigger picture to see what's going on. The more context, the better.
Thanks for your prompt response.
Am beginning to wonder if it is my computer as I can see all of my references when I go to the Zotero website and have just added a new reference there. I am trying to view through the Tools Zotero link that pops up in Firefox at the bottom of a webpage window. I use this all the time for adding references etc. Currently this is totally blank and will not sync. I use this and a laptop computer for adding references but mainly this desktop computer, which admittedly is an older iMac...with OSX 10.6.8
Thanks
Kirsty
great, that's very helpful. Obviously you should be able to see your items in the local copy of Zotero.
1.) When you click on "My Library" at the top left of Zotero, what do you see in the middle panel? Is it completely empty, or do you see one item (which would likely be "Welcome to Zotero")?
2.) Which version of Firefox and Zotero are you using (this is in the error report, but only Dan can see those)? You should be on Zotero 4.0.26 and Firefox 35.0.1 if that's not the case--update.
3.) If your Zotero/Firefox is up to date and if you're not seeing _any_ item under 1.), try restarting your computer.
Let's start with those and see if that gets us anywhere.
Thanks for that. Restarting seems to have fixed the problem! Have the latest FireFox but how do I know I have the latest Zotero? I clicked on pulldown menu About Zotero and that says I am on latest version - is this correct?
it'd say version 4.0.26 in the about message, at the top left. With a standard set up, both Zotero and Firefox will update automatically, so it's very likely that they're both up to date for you.
Very rarely, something on your system will prevent Zotero from accessing it's own database. If this goes away after restart (and isn't a recurring problem) it's absolutely no reason for concern.
