Does Zotero have a 'preview' option so I can have a preview of the citation before inserting it into my document (such Endnote has) - this option is also very useful to use the copy-paste tool.

    Yes: Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Miscellaneous -> Open CSL Preview

    What zuphilip says is technically a preview, but I doubt that it's very useful for what you want.

    I'm not really sure why you would need to check formatted citations before you insert them into the document, but Zotero does have a quick-copy functionality to address your second use case.
