After update, all the files are missing 439552334

yesterday, I had problems when tagging the files and when attaching a link to the files via google drive. I decided to unistall zotero, and now I've realized that all the files are missing.
It is quite strange because at least they should appear in my library.
Please, would you help me?
Thanks!

  • When you say "all files are missing", do you mean that nothing appears in Zotero or that you cannot open any file attachments? Generally, uninstalling Zotero does not delete your library.
  • Nothing appears in Zotero, neither in the library :(
It's like when uninstalling the program and installing it again, it crushed all the files. But I can't understand why they are deleted in my library, too :(
    Thanks for your help
  • By "my library", do you mean zotero.org (as the webpage here)? Have you checked your local library in the Zotero client?
  • Also, are you using Zotero in Firefox or Zotero Standalone? Which one were you using before?
  • My library at www.zotero.org is empty. I used Zotero Standalone in Firefox but empty too.. :(

It's either Zotero Standalone or Zotero in Firefox (I'm guessing the latter). When you reinstalled Zotero, did you perhaps clear/reset your Firefox profile? Check on your desktop for a folder called "Old Firefox Profile". Let us know if you find it. You can also search on your computer for a "zotero.sqlite" file. If you find a couple, let us know the file sizes and last modification dates for those files (if you're searching right, you should find at least one)

If you're not seeing your items online, then you probably never synced them. Are you saying that before uninstalling Zotero the items were on zotero.org?

They're not online because you never synced (or synced once, a year ago, when you first created your account but had no items). When uninstalling Standalone, which is what your report is from, it's possible that we give an option to delete your data, but if we do (and I'm not sure) it's definitely not the default option, so you would've had to have selected it. Or as Aurimas says, you might have reset your Firefox profile somehow, and your Zotero files might have been in there. (For what it's worth, we almost never recommend uninstalling Zotero as a troubleshooting measure, but mostly because it doesn't do anything, not because it's dangerous.)

You can see if your files are elsewhere on your hard drive. Otherwise you'd need to recover from a backup.
  • I cannot find Old Firefox Profile or zotero.squlite.file
They were syncronize but I think that when unistalling zottero.. the profile was reseted :(
Does Zotero offers any backup solution?
Thaks a lot for your help
  • I cannot find Old Firefox Profile or zotero.squlite.file
That should be zotero.sqlite (check your spelling). As I say above, if you're searching right, you will definitely find at least one. of those files.
They were syncronize but I think that when unistalling zottero.. the profile was reseted :(
It's not possible to delete your data on zotero.org by uninstalling/reinstalling Zotero. If you're certain that the items used to be online, then you must have been using a different account.
Does Zotero offers any backup solution?
No, backup is out of the scope of Zotero's services.
