User-Friendly Format Editor

As thousands and thousands of other potential users (cf. the number of discussions on "citation formats" in this forum), I would be delighted to erase the very unstable Endnote from my life and use Zotero for ever. Except I can't at this moment, for one single reason: I need to be able to edit the citation format easily. I am doing a PhD in Law, with only basic knowledge of computer languages, so creating my own style is no option. I understand that Endnote .ens files will not be importable into Zotero in the near future, given the proceedings brought by Endnote owners against Zotero developers.

More concretely, what I need is the possibility (i) to create new types of citations (for instance, one type for "US Supreme Court Cases", another for "European Court of Justice cases", etc.), and (ii) to modify easily the output format for EACH type of citation. In short, what I can do in Endnote (except Endnote is much too unstable).

Is there any project to develop such "User-Friendly Format Editor" feature in Zotero in the near future?

Many thanks!

A much easier to use CSL editor is under development. With any luck we should see it released in some sort of beta launch in the next few months. I am not on top the editor's particular features but I believe it should serve your needs.
