Highwire 2.0 translator not working

Error report ID: 2146332023
Translator for sites using Highwire 2.0 (I have tried Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy plus a couple of others) reports 'could not save this item'. Using FF 35.0. Other translators working fine, I have reset & updated translators, disabled all extensions, accepting cookies. On a similar setup on another PC it seems to be working fine.
  • works for me. Could you double check your Zotero version? It should be 4.0.25.2
  • OK, solved this problem but it's revealed an underlying issue. I did have version 4.0.24.1; this didn't update automatically OR with a manual check in add-ons manager OR with a double click on the Zotero website download button - came up with 'the add-on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure on www.zotero.com' message on this last one. It DID successfully update if I saved the 'zotero-4.0.25.2.xpi' file locally then installed it ... and the Highwire 2.0 translator then worked.
Come to think of it, I did also have to save the word processor add-ons locally before they would install, so there seems to be a particular problem with this machine finding Zotero updates and installing add-ons directly from the Zotero website (they install fine from Mozilla add-ons webpage).
If that's the worst of it, I can live with that rather than spending time, sweat and tears on tracking down the problem. But if you have any suggestions where to look for a quick fix, then I'd be grateful.
    Thanks, Andy
  • See https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/addon_could_not_be_downloaded This generally means that your security software or malware are interfering with secure connections from your computer. You probably don't want either of them doing so. It will also prevent you from receiving updates in the future. Once you sort the issue out, I would recommend re-installing Zotero directly from zotero.org.
  • It was Avast security software. Turned off https scanning ... problem solved. Wicked, thanks!
