Dragging all the items from search results to a collection

I selected all the search results but I couldn't drag them into a certain collection.

Is there a solution? Thanks!
  • if you're doing a quick search this should just work. With an advanced search, create a saved search.
On the webpage (in case that's what you're trying) this can't be done.
  • Thank you for your advice, but saved search can't be dragged into a collection as a subcollection. I found there was a trick but now it doesn't work in the latest version.
  • I found there was a trick
any reason you're not saying what said trick was?
But you can obviously create a subcollection and drag items from a saved search to said subcollection.
If that doesn't answer your question, it'll help if you could explain a bit more what this is about, I feel like I'm missing a lot of context.
  • Oh I'm sorry that I didn't provide enough information. The "trick" was mentioned by Tjowens. (https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/2530/?Focus=10769#Comment_10769)

I want to organize my saved results as a subcollection.
  • oh ticket, not trick. Yeah--subcollections for saved searches might happen eventually, but it won't, in all likelihood, be very soon.
  • Is there an efficient way to quickly organize large libraries that have recently been imported?

I recently switched to Zotero and I'm trying to bring some structure to my ~600 item library. The select and drag option works great for moving small numbers of items to a collection. I find that when I use search to retrieve a larger number of items (~100), selecting them all and dragging to a collection does not work as the "+" never appears in the left hand column. I could always save my searches, but I'd like to be able to create subcategories which is not supported in saved results.

I've tried to make this work in the Firefox add-on as well as Zotero standalone on my freshly updated Macbook running Yosemite with no luck.

Is there a limit to how many items can be selected & dragged at once? Any suggestions for how to work around this? Thanks!
