Zotero Standalone isn't communicating with Zotero Firefox plugin

I have a new computer running Windows 7 and Firefox. I downloaded Zotero Standalone and began synching my library with no trouble. Before or after I did this (I can't remember the order), I downloaded the Zotero Firefox plugin. I clicked on the icon in the Firefox address bar to save a reference to a webpage. Then, I clicked on the "Z" on the Firefox toolbar, and I was shown a library consisting only of the website I just tagged. So, Zotero Firefox plugin seems to be building a library separate from the one I already have. Who could help?
