Zotero is freezing constantly

I am conducting a very large lit search and I think the amount of articles I've imported is breaking zotero. It freezes for several seconds to a few minutes about every second time I click. Is there anything I can do? Thanks for your help!

    Do you have a rough estimate how many articles you imported? Hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands? Only the latter would likely cause issues.

    What's your set-up (which Zotero version, which operating system)?
