Word plugin incompatible with Firefox 35

Firefox automatically updated to version 35, and suddenly now says:
Zotero Word for Windows Integration is incompatible with Firefox 35

The only option it gives me is to "remove" that add-in. But it's the latest version 3.1.17

And within Word, when I try to click on any of the Zotero "actions" it comes up with the error message:
Zotero could not load the component required to communicate with your word processor. Please ensure that the appropriate extension is installed and try again.

HELP!!
  • Firefox shouldn't have updated to 35 until tomorrow (make sure you're on the regular release schedule), by which time Zotero will have released the updated version of the add-on. (both Zotero itself and the Word add-on)
  • Thanks Adam... I'm in Australia... I'm guessing the timezone differences are an issue :)
  • could be -- I thought they released on Pacific US time (where mozilla headquarters are), but that might not be right.
  • Firefox 35 isn't yet available on Mozilla's own FTP servers ("We aren't quite finished qualifying Firefox 35.0 yet."), so I'd be very surprised if they sent it out on the release channel. In any case, a compatible version of the plugin is now available.
  • I have the same problem as dreamusic. I followed your link, Dan Stillman, and when trying to download the "Word for Windows Plugin 3.1.18 (Firefox extension)" it says "The add-on could not be downladed because of a connection failure at Zotero.org" - what should I do? I'm doing my exam project right now - HELP!
  • I have the same problem.

@Sarah1992DK : This is the same as in your other thread. So please continue the discussion there.

@Tim Heysse : It cannot be the "same problem" because in the meantime firefox 35 is released and the plugins were updated. Please start a new discussion entry.
  • Well, it may not be the same problem from a technical point of view, but for me it is the same problem; I cannot download the plugin. Disabling my Avast-HTTP-feature does not seem to help.
  • (generally we ask people to start new threads when the _technical_ side of the problem isn't the same. Otherwise these threads become impossible to follow as the solutions differ. Let's keep this here, though, now that we're at it).

Something on your computer is preventing the add-on from downloading, the page linked to by zuphilip has details. If you tell us what exactly it says when you click the padlock icon on the left of the URL bar on this page, we can likely tell you what program it is, but my best guess would be that you haven't disabled the relevant Avast feature.
