Zotpad unavailable in AppStore

Sorry for discussing this not in a zotpad forum but as I am not able to find zotpad in the appstore I have to try it here. When I search for zotpad in the appstore (its the same if I use the link from the zotpad homepage) it says that the app is not available in my countries (Austria) appstore but in the u.s. appstore and I should chance to that one. ok. when i do so it cannot find it either. and even if - my account is not valid for any other app store that the Austrian one.

i would really appreciate any advice as I am just trying hard to set up a macbook-ipad-dropbox (is dropbox the best?) solution. maybe giving papership a chance? but is papership as well compatible withe dropbox?

sorry for mixing up the topics but i am really trying to deal with this issues since many many hours (not used to not-paper-based archives).

thanks so much!
  • papership doesn't work with Dropbox, so if you want to go that way, ZotPad is the only option.
What the "best" solution is really depends on what you want, but most people (including the ZotPad developer) would recommend using proper file sync (i.e. either through Zotero File Storage or through a webDAV server, which is available from various competitors of Dropbox including box.com).

As for the appstore, I'd try getting in touch with the ZotPad developer. He is from Finnland, so I'd assume ZotPad should be available in EU app stores. Here's the relevant information for contacting him:

  • adamsmith, thank you very much. i find it rather complicated to overview all the options and things one has to consider. in the meantime i got papership and i am trying to purchase more zotero storage (i say trying because when i click the "purchase" button on https://www.zotero.org/settings/purchasestorage nothing happens) and i won't go the dropbox way. when i do backups with my time machine covering all folders it should be ok, right? and: is there a way to export selected child-notes into word/scrivener/any other word processing tool? or would i go with copy paste? can only find instructions for extracting all e.g. for backups. i really appreciate your advice since i am reading so many forum entries (also that ones saying things like 'help - all my libraries are gone') and trying to avoid at least the biggest mistakes...

    again: thank you!!
  • I'm not aware of any problems with buying storage -- what should happen is for a window from "Stripe" to pop up asking you to click through to payment. Maybe try a different browser and/or check your pop-up blocking settings.

Individual notes are best transferred using copy&paste, yes.

TimeMachine is all you need for back up, yes.
  • thanks again, adamsmith! now i get it. for now ;-) thank you!
