ERROR IN MHRA CITATION

Can you help please? in a footnote with MHRA style, Zotero puts the page number in a parantheses, which should not be there. Any idea of how to remove them ? apart from doing it, manually, one by one?
Thanks for your help.

  • If you include the full page range in your zotero database, the page numbers will not be enclosed in parentheses.

If you use the "pages" part of the Word/OO.o plugin, that adds a locator to the reference & this will be enclosed in parentheses. This is useful for referring to a particular page of a proceeding or chapter in a multi-author volume, for example.

With a cursory reading of the style manual, I don't know what preferred behavior is.

    Clearly "pp. 17-50 (p. 45)." is preferable to ""pp. 17-50 p. 45."
  • Thanks noksagt for your comment. I agree that when using a chapter in a multi-volume or journals, the bibliography could be written as pp.17-50 (p.45).
But my issue is that even when using a single author book, Zotero still displays the parantheses.
  • Are you using the 'pages' field in the right-hand pane of Zotero (where the rest of your metadata resides) or are you using the 'pages' parameter that is part of the OO.o Writer /MS Word integration?
  • I am using the 'pages' paramater that is part of the OO.0 writer/MS Word intergration. Because after selecting the book i want to footnote, Zotero will prompt me to put the page number.
  • As above, that parameter is for a "locator" within a resource & not for the complete extents of that resource. Locators are intentionally formatted with parentheses. You do not need to fill that prompt with a number (at least in the present OO.o extension).

If you don't want the parentheses, you can use the right-hand pane of zotero.
  • Thanks a lot.
