Translator problems at EC Joint Research Center (JRC)

I was unable to save this item:
http://publications.jrc.ec.europa.eu/repository/handle/JRC87799

The site translator in the URL bar has a "folder" icon, which is unusual since the page has only one item.

I am on FireFox 33.1 and Zotero 4.0.24.1

Issues with FF 34 beta are reported, but I see a stable 34.0 available for update. Should I?

You're seeing #7 here: https://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues More specifically, Zotero is recognizing two DOIs on the page, but the DOIs are not registered with CrossRef where Zotero typically gets its metadata. We'll be adding support for OPOCE DOIs in the future.

We'll see what we can do about the JRC website. That should be fairly easy to support. (edit: issue created)

Yes, Zotero is compatible with current stable release versions of Firefox. It's safe to update to 34. I'll update our documentation.
  • Aha! Thanks, aurimas, for explaining and offering to fix the issue. Just FYI, this is not urgent for me, but it will be nice to have it fixed.
  • you can actually already use right-click on the URL bar icon and select "Save to Zotero (Embedded Metadata)" for successful import. That's for Firefox only (not available in Chrome/Safari), but I see that's what you're using anyway.
We'll likely still add a proper translator that also attaches PDFs and works for multiples, ticket for that is at
    https://github.com/zotero/translators/issues/819
  • Right-click worked fine, though it created a "book" item - no big deal. I did not know of the right-click feature :)
  • A specific translator for the JRC Publications Repository was released some days ago. It should give you better metadata for those websites.
