Bracketed number [1] for in-text citation

Hey everyone. I've been going through multiple styles that state the intext citations will be bracketed in numbers. After I downloaded the styles (previous style was suprascript numbers) my in-text will not change to the bracketed numbers. Now I have a ton of endnotes with suprascript numbers then then numbers in brackets. What do I need to do to just have in-text in number (IE [1]) and then only have the references numbered appropriately (deleting the endnote suprascripts with cooresponding bracketed numbers)
  • what was the original (superscripted) style you started from?
  • I am not sure. I think I was originally on APA then changed it to the National Library of Medicine or the Vancover style. Now i've switched back and forth so many times I am completely lost. I've copied my text into another document and tried and still nothing.
  • and you don't have the saved copy of the document before all of those conversions? The part that would really matter, though, would be the endnotes. If you actually used _endnotes_ (rather than just numbers in the text and a numbered bibliography in the end) that's a known problem.

Otherwise, you could try changing to a style like Chicago Manual, set it to footnotes, then change back and see if that helps.

If none of those things help, I don't think there's an alternative to these steps:
