Generating report from tagged "child" notes

I may have missed some thread that addresses this, and if so I apologize - but here's my quandary, and I'm wondering if anyone can help me achieve this goal:

I have created a bunch of (several dozen) "child" notes linked to "parent" sources, in some cases several "child" notes for a given "parent". Given the nature of my research, different "child" notes from a given "parent" source may be useful for different chapters of my work-in-progress monograph; I've thus created tags for each of my chapters, and have tagged individual "child" notes with one or more tags depending on their likely usefulness in one or more chapters.

What I need to do now is generate a report for each chapter, so I can collect all the information in the separate notes for that chapter; but when I filter using a given tag (let's call it "Chapter 1"), the display window shows not only the appropriate "child" notes (in darker type) but also the parent sources and all the other notes for those sources (in grey). I could command-click [I'm on a Mac] each of the dark-type items, then control-click and generate my report, but it would be tedious and time-consuming -- is there no way to *just* show the "child" notes that are tagged with that particular tag? (I did follow the instructions in the documentation on reports and change the 'combinechilditem' toggle in the Firefox settings, then restarted Firefox, but that doesn't seem to have changed things for the purposes of this situation).

Any and all suggestions will be gratefully received...

Just control-click on the saved search folder and select "Create Report from Saved Search." (This assumes you have already created a saved search on tag="Chapter 1.")
  • Elena - bless you - a lifesaver yet again. Solved. Thanks! Best,
