PubMed citation import starts but never finishes
Report ID: 232651217
Today (Nov 2014) for the 1st time, I experienced a problem with citation import from PubMed. As usual, I search for a publication (e.g. http://1.usa.gov/1p1pJI5), press the zotero button in the URL bar, the small yellow popup window appears in the Firefox Zotero drawer stating "Saving to [folder name]" without an article title though. It never finishes off, disappears after 5-10s, and the reference is not saved.
I tried the following to get this to work since PubMed is an essential for me.
- Updated Zotero (4.0.21 to 4.0.23), Firefox is already up to date: no effect.
- Tested other sites for import: PubMed Central (http://1.usa.gov/1EZVGm2) does not work either. Many journal sites on the other hand do work, e.g. http://bit.ly/14L99Df.
- I can exclude add-on interference since import works from some sites and I haven't installed any new add-ons for ages while import from PubMed has been working fine until a few days ago.
Anybody experiencing this problem? Any solutions?

You were spot on. I've repeated the procedure today and it works just fine. So, your suggestion that it's a problem with the NCBI's server was correct. Not a problem with Zotero.
All the best
