Saving references broken by proxy

Hi everyone,

I can't save references from IEEE Xplore or ACM when using a proxy.

I use the automatic proxy redirection to access IEEE Xplore articles, which works nicely and gives me access to the pdf etc.

Example urls where this bug appears : https://gateway.bsc.es/dana/home/launch.cgi?url=http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/login.jsp?arnumber=1566557
https://gateway.bsc.es/dana/home/launch.cgi?url=http://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=1108285
Redirection is done by Zotero. The page then appears in a frame, and authentication through my university is active. Hovering over the save icon still says "Save to Zotero (IEEE Xplore)" or "Save to Zotero (ACM Digital Library)" so the site is rightly identified.

However clicking the save icon in the address bar show "Saving in My Library ..." window but the file/page never get saved.
I made a report, id is 613291327.

Saving works when deactivating the proxy redirection and going to http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/login.jsp?arnumber=1566557 (same address without redirection), but that's a bit too much of a hassle I think.

Everything seems up to date
- Firefox 33.0.1
- Zotero 4.0.23.1
- I re-clicked on "Update now" for translators before restarting Firefox and making the report.

Thanks in advance for any other things to check, suggestion or possible fix.

PS : I've seen similar topics but not exactly the same I'm afraid (solved by things that wouldn't work for me, and outdated...) so I hope you don't mind I started a new discussion.
  • If I tell Firefox to only show the frame that contains the IEEE Xplore / ACM DL page, I get an url that looks like the following

    https://gateway.bsc.es/xpl/login.jsp,DanaInfo=ieeexplore.ieee.org,SSO=U+?arnumber=1566557

Saving the reference then works, however the pdf doesn't get saved.
I'll try to update the proxy scheme from the first to this second format, see if this helps.
  • Ok, so I can confirm that going from the scheme :
    https://gateway.bsc.es/dana/home/launch.cgi?url=http://%h/%p
    to the following :
    https://gateway.bsc.es/%p,DanaInfo=%h
gets rid of the frames and solves the problem of being able to save references.

However proxies with frames are still broken (though I guess that's pretty minor), and PDFs don't save automatically (though "Automatically atttach associated PDFs [...]" option is ticked)
