APA references - Italics not appearing in Word

I just noticed that when I used the Word plugin to create a bibliography (in both Word 2014 on PC and Word 2011 Mac) the titles of books and publications do not come in formatted with italics. If I export a bibliography using a selection of the same entries, the RTS file is properly formatted. Am I doing something incorrectly or is this something known. Any suggestions.
