More than 4 items on folder list from Amazon?
Hi, brand new Zotero user here. I'm trying to import citations for a number of books via a search on Amazon.com. Amazon seems to list 16 books on each result page, but clicking the Zotero folder icon only gives me the top 4 to choose from. I have to click on individual books lower in the list and then click the add to Zotero icon from the individual book page to add them to Zotero. Is there a setting somewhere I can ask Zotero to give me the whole list from the search result page so I don't have to go into each book individually? Thanks for any help.
Thanks for reporting!
(1) Amazon tends to experiment with their users by serving different web content (typically different website layouts) seemingly to random sessions. So one person may visit the same URL and see a different page layout from another user. This doesn't even have to be a different person or a different browser. For example, the URL you posted above was displaying the page with different layouts on the same Firefox browser in two different profiles on my computer (which is why I was able to fix this eventually). Because of the way Zotero works, website layout is very very important, so big changes (these were big changes in the code, though they didn't seem so in the UI) break translators.
(2) I did release an update for the translator about an hour ago. However, our translator updates are experiencing some issues that won't be fixed until the beginning of the week, so the update didn't go out until recently (likely, right before your last post).
So given above, you either managed to get the update on your newly-installed Zotero (as per 2) or you were being served a different layout of the website on your other computer.
In any case, you should be able to update Zotero translators now on both of your Zotero instances (as described previously) and the translator should work properly on both layouts of the search results. It's likely that Amazon will break this for us again in the future (yay!), so feel free to report. Of course we'll probably end up tearing our hair out looking for a fix, because we won't even be served the same page (<3 u Amazon).
(sorry for the rant... this was frustrating to fix)
Please do not consider your detailed explanations a "rant". I'm sure that I am not the only reader of this forum to appreciate learning the details of an issue.
