Wiley Online Library

Hi. I'm having a problem grabbing PDFs from Wiley online library. When I click the address bar icon, it correctly adds the citation to my library, but it does not download the PDF. I don't even get the red "X" that indicates that it failed to download the PDF. I'm running the latest version of Zotero (4.0.23) on a mac, and using Chrome.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Go to http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/anie.201403778/abstract
2) Click address bar icon
3) Observe "Saving to ..." dialog, but nothing to do with a PDF.

Here's the log:

Strangely, that URL for the PDF is correct -- it just doesn't save it. Any ideas?

Also, there's this line in the "errors" log, but I suspect that it's irrelevant:

[JavaScript Error: "getTranslators: detection is already running" {file: "chrome-extension://ekhagklcjbdpajgpjgmbionohlpdbjgc/zotero/translation/translate.js" line: 1000}]
  • when you put that URL into Chrome, do you see the just the PDF, or a frame around the PDF? For me, I get a white strip with "Angewandte Chemie: International Edition" at the top. Zotero is looking for that. If you're not getting that, that would cause what you're seeing.

I vaguely recall PDF display being different on Safari, so it's not unlikely that it's different in Chrome, too, and we would need to find a way to deal with that.
  • Hey, thanks for the quick response!

I found this, and I wonder if it's the same issue: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/37330/standalone--chrome-and-wiley-cannot-pull-pdfs/

To answer your question: When I put the PDF URL into chrome, I get the PDF directly. No frame or bar at the top. Screenshot: http://imgur.com/2OOj188.png

I just checked Safari, and the same thing happens there. There's no frame around the PDF in safari, either.
  • yup, that's exactly the same issue, that's what I vaguely recalled. I don't have a solution for your right now, though, sorry, but I'll talk to Aurimas and we'll push this in priority.
  • Alright. I'm sorry to hear that. Thanks anyway!
