Red Exclamation point

So everytime I go to sync my account with the other people in my group I get a Red Exclamation point. When I click on the exclamation point I then see the message below.

The file 'C:\Users\Sherana\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\vm4bvhh2.default\zotero\storage\NGZTP9HR\index.jsonp' cannot be created.

Check that the file is not currently in use, that its permissions allow write access, and that it has a valid filename.

Restarting your computer or disabling security software may also help.

I am not sure what to do at this point, and since I am not technologically savy, I would really appreciate help. I have restarted the computer and that has not helped. I am not sure what it means to check that the file is not currently in use and that its permissions allow write access.
  • Go to C:\Users\Sherana\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\vm4bvhh2.default\zotero\storage\NGZTP9HR\ and see if index.jsonp exists. If it does, try moving it to your desktop. If it doesn't exist, try creating a new text file in that directory (right-click -> New -> Text Document). If you're able to create the text document, delete it.

    At this point, try disabling your security software.
  • Yeah, it's much more likely that this is due to security software. I would try disabling that before bothering with the 'storage' directory.
  • That said, you can also try pasting 'NGZTP9HR' into the Zotero search bar in All Fields & Tags mode, deleting the attachment that shows up, and emptying the trash, but unless there's actually something (mildly) dangerous about that snapshot in particular, there's a good chance you'll just get an error with a different item.
