As far as I know, the source code of Standalone is the same as the source code of Zotero (or MLZ) for Firefox, but with a different build procedure. I have build Linux versions of MLZ Standalone in the past, to confirm that the code would run in that form, but I am not equipped (and don't have the time) to do builds for all three platforms that a Standalone release should support.
