Zotero FF with no web access?

An extremely simple question from a student that made me stop and think. My assumption is that so long as you have Zotero for FF loaded, have been using it, your library is available to you (for example if you are writing) even if you are not signed on to the web. Is that accurate? Or do you need to use Standalone if you want to write without a web connection?
